Barena ARCHIVIO 1993 for New Order magazine.
ARCHIVIO 1993 is a project I conceived for Barena.
Garments are entirely made with the brand’s own dead-stock fabrics, the core of Barena collections since 1993. Some of them date back to 1950s.
Story shot in collaboration with The New Order magazine, with photographer Adam Titchner and stylist Jordan Schneider portraying the real local youth from Mirano and neighborhoods, the Venice countryside where Barena was born in 1993 and still bases its atelier and archive.
The project was unfolded with multiple in-store launch events.
Started at The Next Door store during Paris fashion week, with a 1-week only pop-up shop and window installation featuring a “finepezza” fabrics patchwork made by hand at Barena atelier
The main event for the Archivio release took place in London at 18Montrose store, with a photo and video installation.
The video, filmed and directed by artist Giulio Squillacciotti, aims at portraying a regular day at the atelier, showing how the “slow” approach of the brand towards style and craftsmanship is actually made possible by a hectic, jazzy flow between the archive and the cutting tables, the swing and the fittings.
